The Challenge

The challenge was to certify BASF’s headquarters (75,332 square feet) in Mexico City under LEED for New Construction. The goal was to achieve certification by completely renewing the company’s old building structure, façade, and interiors to reduce energy and water use while working within a very conservative budget. Another challenge was to reduce the usable work area while making allowance for potential employee population growth.

The Solution

Starting with the preliminary analysis to determine the best process to renew the building and way of working, Cushman & Wakefield’s Project Management team managed all phases of the project from the architectural drawings to execution, including all LEED assessments.

The Result

The project was delivered on schedule and on budget. The certification is in process, reaching enough credits to obtain Silver or Gold level. Potable water use was decreased considerably (no use for irrigation) and BASF reduced its workspace by 30%.
