End of Trip Refurbishment – Batman Street, West Melbourne
01 THE CHALLENGE
Cushman & Wakefield was engaged by IOOF Holdings to manage the design, tender process and construction of the end-of-trip refurbishment, at a property located in West Melbourne.
The design brief was to create and enlarge separate male, female and accessible facilities while utilising every centimetre of the limited space available.

02 THE SOLUTION
Cushman & Wakefield managed the consultants through the concept phase and design development by facilitating design presentations and ensuring consultants were coordinated.
The team was responsible for managing the overall program, financial and the tender process to appoint a head contractor.
The project posed some complexities due to the end of trip location in the basement of a heritage listed building, and expansion was limited due to the existing conditions and building infrastructure.

03 THE RESULT
The design inspiration evolved out of a response to the existing heritage elements inherent in the building.
The use of terracotta brick floor and wall tiles complimented the aesthetics of the original façade. The use of arched mirrors, brass fitting and terrazzo bench tops accentuate the urban retreat look and feel of the design.
Following completion in January 2020, the Batman Street property was delivered as a contemporary and functional end-of-trip space covering approximately 200 sqm.
