Cushman & Wakefield Signs Strategic Cooperation Memorandum With the United Nations Institute for Training and Research

Cushman & Wakefield and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) have signed a strategic cooperation memorandum at the Cushman & Wakefield Shanghai office. K K Chiu, Chief Executive, Greater China, Cushman & Wakefield; and Mihoko Kumamoto, Director, Prosperity Department, UNITAR; signed the agreement in the presence of representatives from both parties together with invited guests. The two parties pledged to engage in ESG and business promotion cooperation, with the aim of jointly promoting sustainable development.
 
As the highest-level executive agency within the United Nations system, UNITAR is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. It was established by a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly in 1965. Its purpose is to improve the effectiveness of the United Nations through advanced training and research. Cushman & Wakefield and UNITAR jointly participated in supporting the Shanghai Climate Week event on April 23, 2024, and both parties share a common vision and philosophy in advocating sustainable development.
 
K K Chiu, Chief Executive, Greater China, Cushman & Wakefield, said, “UNITAR plays a crucial role in promoting international cooperation and promoting global development. We are deeply honored that Cushman & Wakefield is the only international real estate service provider in Greater China invited by UNITAR to sign a strategic cooperation agreement. Sustainable development is an ongoing corporate goal for Cushman & Wakefield. Our firm will work together with UNITAR to share our global resources and market insights, actively integrate across sectors, channels and platforms, promote sustainable development, and assist in China's ambitious goals of high-quality economic development.”
 
Mihoko Kumamoto, Director of the Prosperity Department of UNITAR, said, “This strategic signing with Cushman & Wakefield has extraordinary significance. This cooperation will help to raise awareness and build capabilities around the UN SDGs, ensuring that more individuals and organizations are equipped to contribute to these global goals.”
 
Following the signing ceremony, senior delegates from both parties participated in a closed-door roundtable discussion.
