Red Hat is a cutting edge technology firm and world leading provider of open source solutions for businesses. It provides cloud storage and services, middleware, operating system platforms, applications, management products, and support, training, and consulting services. 

Red Hat’s development model is based on the open source community, with thousands of collaborators and a highly open, flexible working model. The firm is enjoying rapid expansion.

The Madrid office was in need of new space to adjust to the growth in staff and collaborators, one in which the new meeting point would reflect the company’s working methods and business philosophy. Needs were pressing. The company had to expand its footprint and modify the existing space without affecting operations.

The main goal was to create a more attractive, flexible space for employees and collaborators, helping to retain and attract new talent and grow commitment to the company.

On the basis of a tight budget and without intervening on the entire floor, we managed to get the office working as a harmonious whole and ensure that the expansion complemented existing spaces. Whilst integrating a renovation carried out in 2014, envisaged for that point in the company’s trajectory, we managed to generate an office working as an entire entity by creating a more open, participative space in line with its current philosophy.

Thanks to their participation in the design process and change management actions, employees felt that the office was made-to-measure for them. We accompanied Red Hat and its people from the beginning of the project and up to the completion and occupation of the new workplace. This helped to increase the sense of belonging, with the office feeling more like an extension of their homes than a mere place of work.
